My Journey
Colour has always been my language
I am Shilpi Jain — an artist, educator and community advocate based in the heart of Ebbsfleet, Kent. My journey with art began in childhood, where painting was my quietest and most honest form of expression. What started as private sketchbooks and late-night canvases gradually found its way into the world — first through commissioned portraits, then through community workshops, and finally through the weekly kids' art classes that have become the heart of what Shilpkar is today.
I studied fine art with a focus on portraiture and acrylics, developing a style that blends the meditative symmetry of mandala art with the warm, expressive energy of acrylic painting. Every piece I create — whether it is a commissioned family portrait or a live festival painting — carries the same intention: to make someone feel seen, delighted, and connected to something beautiful.
Teaching is where my heart truly lives. Watching a child discover that they can make something they are proud of — that moment of self-belief is what drives everything I do. Through Shilpkar, I am building a creative community in Ebbsfleet and beyond: one workshop, one painting, one painted face at a time. I believe that art is not a luxury — it is a necessity. And my mission is to make it accessible to everyone.

2018
Shilpi appeared at her first local community event in Gravesend, offering free face painting to families. The warm response confirmed what she had always believed — art has the power to bring people together.
2023
A highlight year: Shilpi brought face painting and a live painting demonstration to the Castle Hill Easter Fair in Ebbsfleet, introducing her work to hundreds of new families in the area.
2023
Shilpi joined the Cherry Orchard Community Fair, painting over 80 children throughout the day and selling her first series of acrylic prints — a landmark moment for the Shilpkar brand.
2024
A full day at the Ebbsfleet Summer Fair, featuring a collaborative mural wall where community members of all ages added their mark. One of Shilpi's most cherished community projects to date.
2024
After months of planning, Shilpi launched her weekly Saturday kids' art classes in Ebbsfleet Valley. Within four weeks, the classes were fully booked — a testament to the appetite for accessible art education.
2024
Inspired by her own meditative art practice, Shilpi launched a series of adult mandala workshops — a peaceful, structured creative experience that sold out each session and continues to run today.
